About Dr. Marissa "Mj" Babcock

Dr. Marissa “Mj” Babcock has been in the mental health field since 2011 when she obtained her Bachelors in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Baldwin-Wallace University. She joined the ranks of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors in 2016 after graduating with with honors with her Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. Dr. Babcock graduated with her Ph.D. from the University of the Cumberlands in 2024.

Dr. Babcock has worked with populations spanning ages 7 and older, focusing on life adjustments, trauma, anxiety and depression, as well as custody. She holds special certifications in the following areas: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Telehealth Therapy, Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (Level II), Certified MARI Assessor, and continues her growth and development in other areas as well. Dr. Babcock is willing to discuss additional areas of expertise or provide a curriculum vitae in some instances upon request.

In therapy, Dr. Babcock believes in a collaborative approach where the client contributes as an expert on themselves and Dr. Babcock provides the mental health expertise. This is centered in Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy and leans on the use of rapport building techniques in additional to creative interventions to help the client feel empowered during treatment while working in tandem towards individualized solutions.
